1st quarter project 2009:
In a group of 5, you will create one of the following:
- An episode of "Facetas"
- A short Lola Lago mystery
- A parody of a popular TV sitcom
You may incorporate terms from "horror vocabulary" if desired for that special Halloween flair...
Please observe the following guidelines:
- You may speak English in class only on day #1. During this day you should refine your idea, assign your parts, develop key vocabulary and have a run-through in English. All other days will be with Spanish declaration at triple-weight. (Part of this assignment entails figuring out a problem in Spanish).
- You should create a common outline so that you all understand what is going on, but no one may use a script.
- Each member of the group must participate extensively (several lines)
- You should focus on being comprehensible (meaning, you should not look up more than 10 super-important words for your skit). This is meant to use language that you already have in a creative way rather than come up with impressive words that nobody will understand.
- Improvisation is allowed and encouraged. However, you are expected to practice / run-through your skit several times a day to make sure it is appropriately rehearsed and timed. Props, costumes, sound effects, etc. are appropriate (think foreign language field day style)
- We will perform skits for the class on Wednesday, October 28 (you may video tape it prior to class if you have time and resources). You will be graded on:
- Humor / creativity - 20 pts.
- Good use of appropriate and comprehensible vocabulary and verb tenses - 20 pts.
- Accuracy (no major mistakes or critical errors) - 20 pts.
- Understandability / pronunciation / projection - 20 pts.
- Presentation enthusiasm (costumes, enthusiasm, acting, sound effects, etc.) - 20 pts.
