Course introduction: The purpose of A.P. Spanish literature is to gain an appreciation for and an understanding of authentic Spanish literature. We will read over 1000 pages of works spanning 500 years, including works from both Spain and Latin America. Genres include poetry, drama, short stories and novels (selections). The goal of engaging in a course such as A.P. Spanish Literature is to greatly enhance one's ability to communicate in Spanish and understand how literature has helped shape and reflect the culture, history and people of the Spanish speaking world. Because of the intense nature of this course, all students should be committed to investing the time and energy into succeeding. Part of our success will be measured by taking the A.P. Spanish literature exam in May. However, no one test can truly reflect the hundreds of hours of reading, discussing and analyzing that will take place in the course. I am thrilled to be able to embark on this adventure with you. Grades will be assigned according to the following:
I will post a calendar on this website as well as Blackbaud (student portals at the school site). Please be aware of any assignments that you may miss due to absence. We have an agressive year ahead of us and I will expect you to stay on top of things to the best of your ability. |
